Steven Fischer

Steven “Fish” Alan Fischer, 54, of New York Mills, Minnesota passed away on Friday, January 14, 2022, at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, North Dakota. Memorial Services will be held on Monday, January 31, 2022 at Karvonen Funeral Home in Wadena, Minnesota with Donna Uselman officiating. 

Steven Alan Fischer was born on August 9, 1967, in New York Mills, Minnesota to Gordon and Sharon (Vandermay) Fischer. He was confirmed at the Trinity Lutheran Church. Steven attended New York Mills High School, graduating with the class of 1985 and furthered his education by studying mechanics at Wadena Tech School.

Steven worked for the Amoco Gas Station in New York Mills, Marlen’s Small Engines in Wadena, Rifes Auto in Sebeka, Shepard’s Dairy Farm, Dan’s Painting in Wadena, and Lund Boat Company. In 1994, Steven owned and operated Fischer's Outback Autobody until his passing. For a short time he also worked at Schaefer Auto with his lifelong friend Gary Schaefer. Steve has been a lifelong resident of New York Mills.

Steven met Charlotte Myers at Amoco while fixing her car and the couple were blessed with two sons: Steven and Brian. Later Steven met and fell in love with Lottie; they were married on September 28, 1996, and to this union four children were born: Devin, Dylan, Chelsea, and Nathan. The couple later separated.

Steven enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, grilling, four wheeling and truck pulls. He loved going to car shows and snowmobiling with his family. Being with his family meant the most to Steven and activities weren’t the same without them. He enjoyed traveling frequently to Las Vegas and Sturgis. He had a deep passion for vehicles he was constantly buying and selling, his favorites were a lifted Ford pickup (High Roller), multiple regular cab Chevy stepside's, his 1979 orange Camaro, and all of his Chevy Malibu's and El Camino's over the years.

Deeply loved, Steven’s passing will be mourned by his children: Steven, Brian (Becky), Devin (Abby), Dylan, Chelsea, and Nathan; his grandsons Liam and Melvin Fischer; and his sister Brenda (Junior) Eblen.

He is preceded in death by his father: Gordon; grandchildren: Ronan James Fischer and Jolene Anne Fischer; and his mother: Sharon, who passed away on January 24, 2022 and was reunited with Steven in Heaven.
