Ronald Gilstad

Ronald Lee Gilstad was born on December 23, 1946 in Bemidji, Minnesota. His parents were the late Milton and Roxy (Nelson) Gilstad. Ron graduated from the Bemidji High School with the class of 1964. He served honorably in the United States Navy from October 26, 1966 to July 17, 1970 and then in the United States Naval Reserves until October 25, 1972.

Ron was employed seasonally with the Crystal Sugar Company in Grand Forks and resided the summer months in Bemidji where he enjoyed fishing, hunting and tinkering with vehicles. After the 1997 flood in Grand Forks Ron moved out to Wyoming where he worked on ranches. He loved the outdoors, riding horse and protecting the herd. Ron made his home in Wadena and most recently in Fergus Falls.

On December 5, 2020 Ron passed away peacefully at the Pioneer Care Center in Fergus Falls, Minnesota at 73 years of age. He will be missed by his family and friends. Ron is preceded in death by his parents: Milton and Roxy Gilstad.

Ron is survived by his siblings: Liz (Mike) Peters of Wadena; and Paul Gilstad of Wisconsin; many other relatives and a host of friends.
