Richard Hill Gordon was born on April 17, 1946, in Birmingham, Alabama. His parents were the late Charles Dilenger and Annie Circeil (Robinson) Gordon. Richard grew up in Cleveland, Ohio and graduated from Thomas Edison Occupational School as Class Valedictorian.
Richard served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1966 to 1969 as a helicopter pilot. After his honorable discharge, he was employed with the Cleveland City transit system for 4 years. Richard honorably served his country in the U.S. Army a second time from 1975 to 1976.
Richard was united in marriage to Gayle Crocker on November 25, 1977. They resided in Cleveland until making their home in rural Verndale in 1993.
On June 7, 2021, Richard passed away at his home under the gentle care of Lakewood Hospice at 75 years of age. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Preceding Richard in death are his parents: Charles and Annie Gordon; brothers: Charles and Michael; mother-in-law: Anna Crocker; and daughter-in-law: Heidi.
Richard is survived by his loving wife: Gayle; children: Kim Gordon of Cleveland, Ohio; Richard Gordon, Jr. of Cleveland, Ohio; and Richard Charles Turner of Euclid, Ohio; grandchildren: Brittany and Richard Tre; great-grandchild: Gabbey; sister: Patricia (Ernest) Smith of Cleveland, Ohio; aunt: Rosie Pearl of Euclid, Ohio; along with many other relatives and a host of friends.
