Raymond "Ray" Ellingworth, Sr.

Raymond “Ray” Ellingworth, Sr., age 90 of New York Mills, Minnesota passed away at St. Williams Living Center in Parkers Prairie, Minnesota on September 17, 2022. 

Raymond “Ray” Wayne Ellingworth, Sr. was born on July 21, 1932, to Lloyd Sr. and Francis (Zimmerman) Ellingworth in Wadena, Minnesota. In 1953 Ray enlisted into the United States Army. He served his country until his honorable discharge in 1955.

On April 30, 1957, Ray was united in marriage to Susan Schmitz at St. Herbert’s Catholic Church in Bluegrass, Minnesota. Their marriage was blessed with one son, Raymond, Jr.

Ray bought Wadena Auto Supply in Wadena, Minnesota in 1970 where he worked until January of 2020. Ray was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to go hunting and fishing, especially in Canada. He also enjoyed farming and spending time with his 3 granddaughters, putting them on the school bus in the morning and picking them up from school at the end of the day.  Ray was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Bluffton, Minnesota.

Ray is preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Darlene (Ray) Airhart, Ramona (Martin) Olson; Marlyce (Jack) Carter; and Bernice (Nibs) Lorentz; infant sister: Janette; brothers: Warren; and Lloyd Jr.; and infant brother: Norman.

Ray is survived by his loving wife Susan; son: Raymond (Linda), Jr.; grandchildren: Monica (Ryan) Davidson; Jennifer Ellingworth; and Rebecca (Dexter) Hormann; 5 great-grandchildren: Emily, Reece and Leighton Davidson; and Declan and Reagan Hormann; sister: Peggy (Gerald) Porter; brother: John (Debbie) Ellingworth; sisters-in-law: Carmen Ellingworth; and Delores Rentz; caregivers: Geri Perala, Linda Kuismi, Allan Link, Marge Keskitalo and Anna Marie Tabery.; many other relatives and a host of friends.
