Lillie Niskanen Obituary

Lillie Ann Condon was born at her grandparents’ home in Park Rapids, Minnesota on December 27, 1944. Her parents were the late James and Emma (Dickinson) Condon. Lillie grew up just east of Huntersville, Minnesota until she was five years old when the Condon family moved to a farm 11 miles east of Menahga. Lillie attended country school at District #212 in Orton Township until the 8th grade. In 1962, Lillie graduated from Sebeka High School in Sebeka, Minnesota.

On December 22, 1963 Lillie was united in marriage with Darryl Dean Niskanen at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Their marriage was blessed with two children. Lillie and Darryl made their home in Minneapolis for a short time and then moved to Huntersville Township, rural Menahga, Minnesota in 1965. Lillie enjoyed raising her children and was later employed as a waitress and bartender in Nimrod, Minnesota. She started dairy farming from 1980 to 1989, then was employed as the head cook for Green Pine acres in Menahga for 13 years, retiring in 2006.

Lillie enjoyed outing, coffee time, casino (bingo) trips with Alexander. Spending quality time with her two grandsons, her children, family, and friends. She loved taking care of her flowers and watching the variety of birds and wildlife coming to her home.

Preceding Lillie in death were her parents; husband: Darryl (March 10, 2000); sisters: Rosemary, Marie, and Linda; 3 brothers; Richard, James, and Gary.

Lillie is survived by her special friend: Alexander Zdanowich of Menahga, Minnesota; son: Troy (Laurie) Niskanen of Park Rapids, Minnesota; daughter: Tammi (Chris) Hart of Dalton, Minnesota; 2 grandsons: Tyler (Samantha) Hart of Evansville, Minnesota; Tanner Hart of Ashby, Minnesota; 2 sisters: Doris (Jack) Parks-Steele of Seattle, Washington; Karen Gay of Seattle, Washington; 2 brothers: Robert (Carolyn) Condon of Butte, Montana; LeRoy (Nancy) Condon of Park Rapids, Minnesota; nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

As per Lillie's wishes, no services will be held at this time.
