Kenneth Bullock Obituary

Kenneth “Ken” Leroy Bullock was born on December 31, 1950, in Seattle to Kenneth W. and Helen (Woodley) Bullock. He was baptized at New Hope Presbyterian Church in Seattle. Ken graduated from Cleveland High School as part of the class of 1969. He attended the University of Washington on a Math scholarship before enlisting in the US National Guard as a reservist from 1970 until 1976.

Ken was united in marriage to Gloria Ann Thomasson on October 23, 1971, and to this union four children were born: Jenny, Michelle, Heather, and Eric. The family made their home in Seattle and Sumner, WA from 1971 until 2001. During this time Ken worked for Schubert Floorcovering and Rubenstein Floors. In 2001, Ken and Gloria moved to Wadena, MN where he worked with MCI until his passing.

Ken’s love of golf and reading began at a young age and were passions that he shared with his wife and children throughout his life. He also enjoyed playing pinochle, woodworking, skiing, backpacking, and pheasant and deer hunting. He loved watching sports, particularly the Mariners, Seahawks, Sonics and UW Huskies.  Despite the health challenges he faced later in life, his faith and optimism never wavered.

Ken was diagnosed with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL) in May 2007, which was well-managed by Drs. Zent & Parikh until he was subsequently diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) in January 2021.  He received excellent care from the Bone Marrow Transplant Team at Mayo Clinic, headed by Dr. Mark Litzow, until his passing.  Ken was fortunate that his brother Larry Bullock was a match, who donated stem cells for the transplant Ken received in June 2021.  That transplant eradicated both the CLL and ALL.

Deeply loved, Ken’s passing will be mourned by his wife of 50 years Gloria; his children: Jenny (Blas Puzon) Bullock, Michelle (Jason) Allred, Heather Bullock, and Dr. Eric Bullock; grandchildren Trezel Jimoh, Josh & Aly Daigneault, Aidan & Avery Allred, and Marina & Lucia Bullock-Puzon; great-grandchild Omari Daigneault; and his siblings Dr. Cynthia (Stan Woody) Flynn, Larry (Gaylia) Bullock, Gary (Patty) Bullock, and Ron Bullock.  Ken is preceded in death by his parents, sister Dr. Sylvia Bullock and  granddaughter Brona Bullock.

Memorial donations can be made to the Gift of Life Transplant House in Rochester, MN or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
