Joyce Elaine Vogt was born on January 2, 1958 to Joseph and June Smith. After graduating from Henning High School, she worked a variety of jobs in the service industry, along with a stint at Catholic Charities in Fergus Falls.
Over the years, she participated in bowling and dart leagues and made the best darn beans for a large gathering of people. Many tried to replicate, but could never match.
Joyce loved basketball and enjoyed “coaching” every chance she could. March Madness was a yearly tradition for her and she HAD to have the Monday paper so she had her bracket to fill out. The UConn Huskies were her favorite team.
Joyce had a lot of friends and seemed to know everybody. She was also like a mother to her children’s friends and always try to feed everyone. She was very proud of all her children and loved being a grandma. She loved playing board games with her grandson Tristin and loved school shopping with her grandson Noah. She always wanted to help people in any way that she could.
On the afternoon of Tuesday, November 30, 2021, Joyce passed away peacefully at her home. Joyce is survived by her three children: Christina (Vogt) Olson (and husband Joe Olson), Matthew Vogt and Benjamin Vogt; two grandchildren: Tristin Roggenkamp and Noah Roggenkamp; and her sister Kathi Smith.
We will be having a gathering of family and friends to remember Joyce Vogt at the Ottertail Community Center on Saturday, January 29 from 1:30-4:30 PM.
This will be very informal and we hope to see as many people that can make it. Joyce touched a lot of people’s lives and I’m sure you all have great stories to share. It will also be a chance to see family and friends we haven’t seen in a long time.
Food and beverages will be provided.
The address for the Community Center is:
93 Lake Ave
Ottertail, MN 56571
