Jerry Wallace Asmund was born on July 21, 1962 in Wadena, Minnesota. His parents were the late Wallace “Wally” and Irene (Honer) Asmund. Jerry graduated from the New York Mills High School with the Class of 1980. Jerry was united in marriage to Pam Curtis on July 8, 1989 in Watertown, South Dakota. They were married for 14 years as their marriage was blessed with three children: Tara, Toni and Jeremiah.
Jerry was employed with Lund Boats and then resided in Tucson, Arizona from 1994 to 2000 where he was employed with Vangard and also owned and operated his own landscaping business. Returning to Minnesota and raising his family, they resided in Perham and Hermantown. Jerry moved to Proctor for a short time and returned to New York Mills in 2005. In 2009 Jerry moved back to Arizona where he was employed with Barrel O’ Fun and most recently made his home in New York Mills. He was a very spiritual person, and enjoyed martial arts hiking and the outdoors.
On June 19, 2020 Jerry passed away at his home in New York Mills at 57 years of age. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Preceding Jerry in death were his parents, Wallace and Irene; brothers, Jay Asmund and John Asmund.
Jerry is survived by his children: Tara (Jason) Erickson of Dent; Toni (Andrew) Shaleen of Brooklyn Park and Jeremiah Asmund of New York Mills; 6 grandchildren: Alexisia, Kalen, Alliance, Adilaide, Avery and Axton; sister-in-law, Cheryl Asmund of West Fargo; nieces: Beth (Brock) Haugen and Maggie (Jeremiah) Livingston; many other relatives and a host of friends.
