Doris Pikkaraine

Doris Helen Wiirre was born on November 7, 1935, in Newton Township in rural Minnesota. Her parents were the late Eli and Ruth (Bentley) Wiirre.  Doris attended Country School at District # 105 in Newton Township.  She graduated from the New York Mills High School with the class of 1954.

On September 2, 1956 Doris was united in marriage with Mervil Dean Pikkaraine at Doris’ home in Newton Township, rural Otter Tail County, Minnesota.  Their marriage was blessed with three children.  Doris and Mervil made their home in Otto Township, rural Ottertail, Minnesota where they farmed.  On May 4, 1997 Mervil passed away. 

Doris was a Life Member of the Charles D. Center V.F.W. Post #3289 Auxiliary and was an active member of the Senior Center.  She loved gardening, flowers, fishing and visiting with her neighbors and friends.

On December 3, 2021 Doris passed away peacefully at Fair Oaks Lodge in Wadena, Minnesota at 86 years of age.  She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.  Preceding Doris in death were her parents, Eli and Ruth Wiirre; husband, Mervil; siblings: Dale and Dolores.

Doris is survived by her children: Thomas (Mary) Pikkaraine of Motley; Patricia Pikkaraine of Motley; Matt (Lyn) Pikkaraine of Ottertail;  4 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Shirlyn Bentley and Marlene Wiirre; many other relatives and a host of friends.
