Clara Stella (Mischke) Bauck was born on October 22, 1922 in Perham, Minnesota. Her parents were the late Emil and Sophia (Knickrehm) Mischke. She was baptized on November 5, 1922 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Corliss and her sponsors were: August Mischke, Hulda Mischke and Stella Lange. Clara attended Country School District #225, in Corliss Township, rural Perham, Minnesota.
In the late 1940’s Clara resided in Long Beach, California, where she was employed at a shoe store and dry cleaners. On September 20, 1949 Clara was united in marriage to Norbert Christopher Bauck at Clara’s homeplace in Corliss Township. Their marriage was blessed with seven children. Clara and Norbert resided and farmed in Pine Lake Township until 1982, when they moved into New York Mills. Norbert passed away in 2002. Clara resided in New York Mills until she moved into the Hadley House in Perham, Minnesota in 2018.
Clara was employed with Dertinger Evergreen, New York Mills Elders’ Home and the New York Mills School. She was a member of the New York Mills V.F.W. Auxiliary and volunteered at the Senior Craft Center. She enjoyed garage sales, quilting, canning, baking and playing Scrabble.
On February 11, 2020 Clara passed away at the Hadley House in Perham, Minnesota at 97 years of age. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Clara is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Norbert; an infant son, Loren; and sister, Eleanora Anderson.
Clara is survived by her 4 daughters: Marlys (Jerry) Barker of Deer Creek; Sharon (Clarence) Siebels of Perham; Joann Hooven of New York Mills; Sandy (Glen) Meier of Perham; 2 sons: Allan (Kathy) Bauck of New York Mills; Carl Bauck of Perham; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; many other relatives and a host of friends.
