Barbara Rae Lehmkuhl, age 75, of Wadena, Minnesota, died on January 16, 2024, in her home. Graveside Services will be held in the Spring of 2024 at Greenhill Cemetery in Sebeka, Minnesota.
Barbara Rae Lehmkuhl was born August 25, 1948, to Wilbert and Phyllis (Eitel) Lehmkuhl. Barbara attended Sebeka Public School from 1st grade to graduation in 1966. Upon graduation Barb, as she preferred to be called, attended Wadena Area Technical College, graduating in 1967. She worked for a very short time in Alexandria at Fingerhut. Then worked at Ringers in Staples as a clothing inspector for army uniforms. When that contract was completed, she got a job at the Sebeka Coop Creamery which was the beginning of a 40-year career in a business she enjoyed with an extended “family” at the Browerville Land O’ Lakes plant. Her career included Land O’ Lakes in Browerville, Perham, and then finally in Sauk Centre in the trucking department. At the age of 60 after 40 years in a dream job she retired in September of 2008.
Barb loved living in the small town of Browerville, bought a home there, selling it in 2016 and moved to Wadena to the Commercial Apartments. Barb enjoyed the social life there and made some lifelong friendships. She adored her nephew Travis and his wife and their sons as the children and grandchildren she never had. Barb enjoyed crafting and creating. Knitting, crocheting, oil painting, wreath making, and other crafts. Music and entertainment were a big part of her life, and she spent several years in the karaoke business. She lived a full life, loved excitement and making people smile and laugh.
Barb is preceded in death by her parents Wilbert and Phyllis, as well as her dear brother Brad.
Barb is mourned by her nephew Travis (Trisha) Lehmkuhl of Little Falls, Minnesota; great nephews Mark, Tanner, and Jacob; sister-in-law Colleen Lehmkuhl of Sebeka, Minnesota.
