Allen Eric Kimber was born at home in rural Henning, Minnesota. His parents were the late Ernest and Pearl (Witt) Kimber. As a child he would walk to his grandparents and help on the farm. He walked to Grace Etta beach where he would enjoy swimming with cousins and friends. Allen went to Country School till the 8th grade then to the Henning High School where he graduated with the class of 1963.
After high school he joined the United States Army where he served from October 10, 1966 and was honorably discharged on October 27, 1969. When he returned from the service he bought a 1969 GTO Judge new and it was his pride and joy. He was employed as a mechanic in Henning and also in Battle Lake where he enjoyed working on cars. He was also employed at the Henning and Battle Lake grain elevators and also worked many years at Marks Sand and Gravel. In his later years he was employed for Fergus Well where he retired from in 2002.
In 1982 he met and married the love of his life Judy Cooksey. Their marriage was blessed with 3 children: Missy, Kayla and Eric. They made their home and raised their family in Battle Lake.
Every Saturday night Allen, Judy and the family made their way to the Viking Speedway in Alexandria and enjoyed stock car races. Judy passed away, Allen and his son Eric continued the tradition at I-94 Speedway in Fergus Falls. Allen enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, and mowing. He especially enjoyed spending time with his kids, grandchildren and family.
On September 14, 2021 Allen passed away at the St. Cloud Hospital surrounded by his family. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Preceding Allen in death was his wife, Judy Kimber; parents, Ernest and Pearl Kimber; many aunts and uncles.
Allen is survived by his children: Missy (Mark) Foss of Underwood; Kayla LaBeau of Elbow Lake and Eric Kimber and his girlfriend, Christina of Henning; 5 grandchildren: Trent and Naomi, Tasha, Riley & Nikkole; siblings: Margie Diederichs of Ottertail; Norma (Tony) Reineke of Vining; and Linda (Dennis) Christenson of Ottertail; aunt, Dolores Peterson of Henning; many other relatives and a host of friends.
