Alice Rising

Alice Marie Rising passed away at her home Saturday May 30th in the loving hands of her family.

Alice was born October 1, 1951 to Alvin and Maxine Brasel. Alice grew up in the Sebeka area and married Gerald Peterson in March 1969, had 3 daughters and made their home in Wadena. Alice married Joel Rising in June 1991 and made their home in Norwood -Young America until moving back to Sebeka to be closer to her aging parents.

Alice had a love for life-she always had a smile on her face and a spring in her step. Alice was a wonderful cook and baker, whether it was making cookies or grilling on the holidays for the Bell Hill clients or making her famous Potato Salad-she loved being in the kitchen. All of us are going to miss her homemade Easter baskets and Christmas goodies.

As much as she loved to cook-she loved fishing and being outdoors. Alice loved all of their fishing adventures whether it was in Alaska, Lake of the Woods or roaming close to home. She was a good fisherman and always after the biggest fish. She enjoyed many weekends with family at the cabin sitting around the bon fire, sharing stories and laughs and watching the hummingbirds battle over the feeder. She was a great hunter, loved rides on the four-wheeler and was a huge Vikings fan. So many great memories of Sunday games at the shop with great food and even better friends.

Alice is survived by her loving husband Joel, daughters Donna (Jay), Missy (Donny) and Dee Dee (Will), 16 grand children Kayla, Shawna, Tyler, Tony, Devyn, Jayden, Tia, Shylah, Evit, Danny, Willie, Terk, Tori, Angel, Izzy, Alyssa and a great granddaughter Marie, 6 siblings, sisters/brothers in laws, nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles and countless friends.

Alice is preceded in death by her parents Alvin and Maxine Brasel, mother in law Joyce Rising Olson, mother in law Karen Rising, father in law Beryl Rising, brothers in law Albert Tappe, Les Erickson, Jason (Jake) Rising and Jon Dykman and a great nephew Logan Brasel.

A graveside service will be held at the Sebeka West Cemetery on August 22 at 1pm.
