Mary Jay

Mary Marie (Irwin) Jay was born to James and Delores (Peterson) Irwin on December 23, 1948 in Nodak, North Dakota. She grew up in Eden Prairie, Minnesota before moving to Wadena. Mary was married to Lance Carlson and they had three children: Darcy, Eddy and Jefferey. She later moved to Red Wing where she married Edward Jay and they had two children: Charly and Henry. In 1995, then moved to New York Mills, MN where Ed owned and operated his roofing business. Mary and Ed also owned and operated a junk hauling business for many years.

In Mary’s younger years, she enjoyed horseback riding and crafting. She loved collecting antiques, reading and had a special place in her heart for animals. On January 6, 2019, Mary passed away at her home in Ottertail. Mary will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Preceded in death by her father James Erwin and husband Ed.

Survived by her mother, Delores Irwin; daughters: Darcy Carlson; Charly Jay (Sean Dunblazier); sons: Eddy Carlson; Jeff Carlson; and Henry Jay; grandchildren: Tommy Jay (Tanisha Splane); Scotty (Danika) Jay; Aria Standal, Wyatt and Olivia Jay; sister Jerilyn; brothers: Jim Irwin and Chris Irwin; numerous other relatives and many friends.
