Lorraine Ruikka was born on July 25, 1944 in New York Mills, Minnesota. Her parents were the late Walter and Lena (Simmons) Ruikka. Lorraine attended Country School District #175 in Topelius Township. She enjoyed riding her bike on the family farm and helping her mother with garden. When she began school at the New York Mills High School, her dog Chevy would walk with her to the bus stop every day and be waiting for her to return when the bus would bring her home.
Lorraine made her home in Minneapolis, where she was employed at a clothing factory and a local newspaper. For a time she also went to cosmetology school focusing on the art of makeup. She enjoyed drawing, and going to the local parks, especially during the fall when the leaves would change colors. Lorraine was a beautiful, passionate (and feisty) person who loved with all her heart.
Lorraine has resided at the Ebenezer Hall in Minneapolis, where she peacefully passed away on January 8, 2020 at 75 years of age. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Preceding Lorraine in death were here parents; two brothers: Wally Ruikka and Arvid Ruikka; two sisters: Irene Ruikka and Helen Ruikka.
Lorraine is survived by her daughter Pollie (George) Lang of Wallingford, PA; 2 grandsons: Liam and Mason; two sisters: Rosie Ruikka and Marcella Ruikka; 3 brothers: Ray Ruikka, Hubert Ruikka and Clifford Ruikka; many other relatives and a host of friends.
