Edward Ehrmantraut

Edward Joseph Ehrmantraut was born on November 23, 1934 in Fryburg, North Dakota.  His parents were the late John and Barbara (Bleizeffer) Ehrmantraut.  When Ed was 10 years old the Ehrmantraut Family made their home in Fromberg, Montana where they continued to farm.  Ed attended school at the Huntley Project School in Warden, Montana.

On July 20, 1957 Ed was united in marriage with Jean Eleanor Osborn at St. Patrick’s Co-Cathedral in Billings, Montana.  Together they made their home in Billings where Ed began his employment with Spear Meat Company with the delivery department and worked his way to become a Journeyman Meat Cutter for Safeway in Billings and in Cody, Wyoming and eventually purchasing a farm in Worden, Montana. 

In 1973 they made their home in Wadena where he owned and operated a dairy farm, until retiring in 2000.  During those years Ed was also employed as a meat cutter in Wadena at Red Owl, IGA and U-Save.  In retirement, Ed still enjoyed helping out, as work was a favorite hobby of his. He assisted his son, Tyler at the Smokehouse, Fix’s Grocery and drove truck for Leaf River Ag.

Ed was a history buff, enjoyed reading old western books, and always had a joke for everyone. He worked for Buckwheat Growers Association, was a member of Leaf River Township Board and Federal Credit Union Board.

On October 3, 2019 Ed passed away peacefully at his home in Wadena at 84 years of age.  He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.   Preceding Ed in death were his parents, John and Barbara Ehrmantraut; 2 infant brothers: Joseph and James; brothers: John “Willy”, Ervin and Kenneth.

Ed is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Jean Ehrmantraut of Wadena; children: Tana Ehrmantraut of Wadena; Tyler (Kari) Ehrmantraut of Wadena; Troy (Hanna) Ehrmantraut of Sheridan, Wyoming; Tom Ehrmantraut of Wadena;  7 grandchildren:  Dallas, Colter, Jaden, Mardi, Blade, Merritt and Brynlee; great-grandchild Emberlyn; 2 brothers:  Bob (Shellie) Ehrmantraut of Billings, Montana and Ray (Barbara) Ehrmantraut of Worland, Wyoming; many other relatives and a host of friends.
