Donna Walter

Donna Marie Walter entered eternal rest on Friday, April 5, 2024, at Astera Health, Wadena, MN. Donna was born on April 23, 1943, to Harold “Snaps” and Marie (Priebe) Walter of Sebeka, MN at Wesley Hospital in Wadena, MN.  

Donna was baptized and confirmed in her Lutheran faith.  Donna attended and graduated in Sebeka, with the Class of 1961.  She then went on to attend and receive her Beautician License in Wadena, MN.   

Donna at a young age had a strong work ethic and it continued throughout her life, so after completing her education she moved to Minneapolis, and embarked on her beautician career, that she thoroughly enjoyed for over 35 years.  When her health no longer allowed her to be a beautician, she did a major career change and became employed by Blue Cross, Blue Shield in Eagan, MN as a Support Specialist.    

Donna retired when her mother began needing her support at home in Sebeka.  Donna was by Marie’s side and an advocate for her mom’s health and happiness for the rest of Marie’s life.

Nothing was more important to Donna than her family and friends, and the more the merrier.    For every gathering, celebration, project, or party to be planned, Donna was all in.  She enjoyed the planning, collaboration, execution, and component of each event.  Donna’s classmates are lifelong friends and continue to connect in Sebeka and gather for reunions and ad-hoc visits.   Her love for children was unending.  If there was a baby to be held, it was in Donna’s arms.  Donna especially enjoyed helping with caregiving and being a great friend to Chancey, Cayden and Evan Johnson since birth.   Their bond is close.  They call her “Grandma”.   She also enjoyed the honor of “God Mother” to multiple children. Donna had many hobbies, but her very favorites were cooking and baking.   No one left her home without some type of baked good.  Cookies and pies were her preference to make.  It was her utmost honor when someone requested her to make one of their favorites for them. 

Donna is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Merlin and Warren (Ike) and Merlin’s son Scott.  Donna is survived by Sister-In-Law Beverly (Merlin) Walter and Bev’s grandson, along with Ike’s two daughters and her Walter and Priebe cousins.  And of course, all that called her friend.
